Walgreens has the essentials, even for a Freaky body swap

Delivering trusted well-being expertise and convenience for customers—even those in the midst of a mystical body-swap.

Disney’s “Freakier Friday,” the eagerly anticipated sequel to the beloved Disney classic, brings back stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan for more laughs and life lessons as they walk in somebody else’s shoes.

For Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis), once again a teen girl in a grown woman’s body, the walk includes a trip through Walgreens’ aisles for all the “essentials” she thinks she needs. And the lesson? Don’t believe those stereotypes about aging—every woman is empowered on her own journey.

“We want to make sure that women who are at different life stages, going through any type of life transition, know that Walgreens can play a supportive role,” says Stephanie Hall, director of enterprise content at Walgreens. “These scenes help you rethink those stereotypes in a really entertaining way.”

In addition to the Walgreens women’s well-being and beauty products, our Walgreens Photo passport services play a part as the movie’s characters handle their errands.

“It’s great to remind customers that regardless of what you’re looking for, we have your essentials in our aisles,” Hall says.

This is not the first time Disney and Walgreens have joined forces to hilarious results: ”Hocus Pocus 2,” released in 2022, also featured a Walgreens store and paved the way for the “Freakier Friday” collaboration.

Filming for Disney’s “Freakier Friday” took place last summer at store #6854 at 2222 Colorado Blvd. in Los Angeles, which closed for two days to accommodate the cast and crew. Team members scheduled to work on those days were inside the store while filming took place. They say they feel so lucky they were able to see some of the actors in action.

“We couldn’t believe they picked our store,” says Carlton Sullivan, store manager. “There was a sense of pride not only for our team members, but also for the whole community to know they picked our store to film the movie.”

Team members from store #6854 are excited to see how their store will look on the big screen when the film opens today.

“At the end of the day, we wanted to embrace the playful side and comic relief of this opportunity while still showing how we’re there for our customers,” says Hall.
